@iLabAfrica, Strathmore University, and the National Research Fund (NRF) joined forces on Wednesday, January 21, 2025, in a partnership sealed with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This historic collaboration sets the stage for progressive research, data-driven policy-shaping, and cutting-edge innovations poised to make a lasting societal impact.
This partnership lays the foundation for a vibrant collaboration between NRF and @iLabAfrica to establish the African Centre of Excellence in Cybersecurity. Through this agreement, the two entities aim to drive research, foster innovation, and lead capacity-building initiatives in the ever-evolving field of cybersecurity
Speaking at the signing ceremony, representatives from NRF and @iLabAfrica highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships that focus on empowering youth in cybersecurity through advancing research in science, technology, and innovation. The MoU outlines a shared commitment to leveraging each party’s expertise and resources to address pressing challenges and create lasting solutions.
Dr Joseph Sevilla, Director, @iLabAfrica, emphasized the significance of this initiative, saying, “Cybersecurity has become a major concern around the world, and it’s happening at all levels from major corporations to the average individual.” He also praised the collaboration for creating a platform to share research with the public. “This is the beginning of several events of its kind,” he added.
The objectives of this partnership include:
