Introduction

Modern software does not stop at development. Once an application goes live, it must be deployed correctly, monitored, tested, supported and restored quickly when something goes wrong.

The Certificate in OPS and QA is a practical, hands-on programme designed to equip learners with the skills required to work confidently with live software systems. Participants will gain experience working with servers, applications, databases, containers, monitoring tools and software testing frameworks while solving realistic production and quality challenges.

By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Deploy and operate applications in a live environment.

  • Work with Linux servers, Docker and application services.

  • Work with databases and use SQL for troubleshooting and validation.

  • Monitor applications using metrics, logs, traces and dashboards.

  • Diagnose common application, server, database and configuration failures.

  • Respond to production incidents and perform basic root-cause analysis.

  • Back up, restore and recover application data and services.

  • Test web applications, APIs and databases.

  • Identify, reproduce and document software defects.

  • Automate selected software tests using modern testing tools.

  • Perform basic application performance and load testing.

Participants will gain practical exposure to technologies including Linux, Docker, PostgreSQL, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Postman, Playwright and k6.
