In a significant step toward strengthening bilateral ties and promoting ICT for Development (ICT4D), Tech Innovators Network Tank (THiNK) and @iLabAfrica signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 19, 2025. The agreement establishes a foundation for collaboration to drive innovation and technological advancement. It combines expertise in IT, research, and entrepreneurship to empower communities and address challenges in emerging technologies, talent development, and knowledge creation.
This partnership will focus on crafting strategic projects and developing products that harness emerging technologies to deliver impactful results. By leveraging the vast network and deep industry insights, this collaboration aims to equip individuals and businesses with the tools needed to thrive in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
“Strathmore is at the forefront of Ethics in AI, and we are joining forces to tackle common challenges within the system. Our collaboration aims to address AI transparency, foster the development of responsible AI locally, and facilitate knowledge exchange with students to drive ethical innovation,” said Brain Omwenga, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in bridging the digital divide and fostering a platform for knowledge-sharing.
Think (Tech Innovators Network) is a community-driven technology initiative dedicated to helping businesses navigate their digital transformation journey. Its core mission is to develop a digital business hub designed to create a dynamic ecosystem where innovators and organizations can collaborate effectively. Through this hub, Think fosters innovation, facilitates knowledge sharing, and supports businesses in leveraging emerging technologies to stay competitive in the digital landscape.
The MoU outlines specific areas for cooperation, including:
- Joint Research and Development- Collaborate on cutting-edge technology projects in AI, IoT, blockchain, and data analytics that address societal challenges through tech-driven solutions.
- Policy Advocacy and Thought Leadership- Contribute to policy discussions on technology and innovation by publishing collaborative reports and insights to influence regional and global tech trends.
- Industry Engagement and Partnerships: Build bridges with corporations, governments, and NGOs to drive tech adoption and facilitate technology transfer programs with industry stakeholders.
- Student and Professional Exchange Programs—Create platforms for student internships and professional secondments that foster knowledge-sharing through cross-institutional engagements.
